The Alley
Cats are a perfect blend of musical talent and comic
timing. Their interaction with audiences combined with
their spontaneous humor makes each show refreshing and
exciting. Mando, Juan, Todd, and Tim never miss a
beat as they bring their own contemporary style to the
great songs of the 50s and 60s. Together, their freshness
and talent make them truly the Cat’s meow!
Every a cappella performance by The Alley Cats is accompanied
only by the sounds of laughter and voices joining in
to sing the melodies we all know and love. They have
won-over audiences nationally as they relate directly
to the crowd with lively humor, engaging stories, and
audience participation appealing to young and old alike.
Formed while studying music at Fullerton College, The
Alley Cats began their musical journey in 1987 as a
featured act in Disneyland’s “Blast to the
Past,” a salute to the 1950s. Their long-standing
relationship with Disney also took them to New York
City, where they were featured during the world premiere
of Disney’s animated film, Hercules. Their accomplishments
also include numerous TV shows, radio jingles, and thousands
of live stage performances. Performing at festivals
throughout the U.S., they have shared the stage with
such notable artists as Chubby Checker, The Beach Boys,
and comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
On the recording scene, The Alley Cats have been featured
on numerous recordings. They have recorded four albums,
which showcase their rich harmonies, as well as the
energy and humor from their live shows. Their album
Cruisin’ won a CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording
Award) for “Best Doo-Wop Song” with Tears
on My Pillow. An article in Primarily A cappella calls
their third release Strike 3!, “frankly the best
recording we’ve heard of the era’s music”.
Tight harmonies, universal humor, and unbelievable a
cappella energy have made The Alley Cats “America’s
Premier Doo-Wop Group”.
Award-winning Michael Martin Murphey, "singing cowboy poet", is not only the number one, best-selling singer/songwriter of American Cowboy Music, he's one of the world's most
respected singer/songwriters in the Pop and Country-Western field. In May, 1975 Murphey’s story song, "Wildfire," reached No. 1 on the Radio and Records charts, No.3 on Billboard'sPop Chart, and No. 1 on all Adult Contemporary Charts, giving the artist vast commercial exposure. Michael broke ground with an innovative concert concept called "Cowboy Christmas" in 1987 which has become a trademarked touring show and musical concept for him. The tour now spans 40 cities per holiday season, and has led to three Cowboy Christmas albums and a Cowboy Christmas DVD.
